Common Questions

There are many questions you may have about medical care but we're here to help answer those for you!
1. What can I expect at a wellness visit?

Wellness visits at St. Jude Neighborhood Health Centers can provide several insights into your overall health. Your provider will evaluate your current health status and discuss any concerns you may have. A typical wellness

visit evaluates your weight, blood pressure, preventative laboratory blood testing, as well as screening your risk for certain conditions or prevailing health issues. Based on the outcome, you and your physician may develop a custom plan to improve your health.

2. What types of actions might my doctor recommend?

Sometimes, a simple lifestyle change is all it takes to improve your health and avoid diseases that can lower your quality of life. Unhealthy behaviors such as poor diet, sedentary lifestyles and tobacco use increase the likelihood of developing conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and some types of cancer. Research indicates that cardiovascular disease affects various people in California.

The condition, which includes stroke and heart diseases, accounts for 30% of the state’s mortality rate. About 4.2% of people in California live with a heart condition, while 2.5% live with cerebrovascular disease, which can cause a stroke. These conditions are largely preventable with early intervention and lifestyle changes. St. Jude Neighborhood Health Centers not only offers guidance and interventions to your concerns but also tailored treatments and therapies to help start your wellness journey.

3. What services does your medical provider offer?

• Screenings

• Flu and pneumococcal shots

• Measurements of your blood pressure

• Body mass index calculations

• Vision tests

• Mental health and wellness assessments

Your provider will work with you to develop a detailed health plan with the immunizations, screenings, and preventive services you need, and specialist referrals if needed. In addition to these screenings, we also offer lab draw services. We take care of your heart health with EKG’s, lung function tests to assess your pulmonary function, minor office procedures like skin tag removals and more that can be discussed in the clinic for further care to your specific condition or concern.

4. Is there a patient portal where you can see office visit summaries and test results?
